This could happen only in Venice at the Baglioni Hotel Luna. Roberto had reservations for only 3 nights. But he liked the Luna Baglioni for its services, its wonderful Spa and the culinary creations of Chef Claudio Sadler and decided to enjoy Venice 4 or 5 days longer. Regrettably, the hotel, as usual, was completely full. Roberto insisted to keep his room the extra nights.

The manager, Mr. Gianmatteo Zampieri, gracefully invited Roberto at the bar for a grappa to kindly ask him to kindly vacate his room. Roberto was negative.

Among the guests there was a Rear Admiral of the Italian Navy and the Manager asked him if he could talk to Roberto. Roberto was adamant to stay. The Admiral replied that he will send a couple of commanders.

The Commanders of the Italian Navy arrived to explain to Mr. Zampieri that they do not have jurisdiction on the mainland, only on water. Best thing is to offer Roberto a gondola ride in the lagoon while the navy will wait for him.

The manager made a drastic decision and called the Carabinieri (Italian police). Roberto picked up glass and asked if he can have some Amarone before being escorted out.
The irony is that Roberto is a member of the Italian Police Association! (The story is a joke!) Roberto fully enjoys his time at the Baglioni Hotel Luna.
